My Name: Sharon Saline

My Title: Librarian II - Reference and Technical Services

What Is My Job At The Library? I work at the Reference desk on the second floor of the Billerica Public Library, helping our library customers locate information and materials, book museum passes and study/meeting rooms, try to find answers to their questions, etc. I also work in the back room, helping process materials for use in the library and making sure that these items are accessible on the library online catalog. And I am developing the LARGE PRINT collection. If any of you Large Print readers have suggestions for book titles, please leave them for me at the INFORMATION desk.

How Long Have I Worked At The Library? I have just been at this library for about 1 1/2 months. But prior to coming to BPL, I worked at 2 other libraries. Once upon a time, I was an elementary school teacher. I just recently went back to college to become a librarian.

What Is My Favorite Part Of The Job? I enjoy finding the appropriate materials to answer questions and working with people.

What Do I Like To Read? I confess: I am a magazine junkie. I also like to read books mentioned on National Public Radio, books to talk about with my bookgroup, and AudioBooks. I prefer reading fiction and non-fiction and many children's books. And I like classics, too. I feel like a "kid in the candy store" when I enter a public library...sooooooo many wonderful things to read and look at. Your library card is the best charge card in your wallet. Use it @ your public library!

Other Than Reading, What Do I Like To Do When I'm Not Working? I love to walk and explore new places. I like to travel, mostly to visit family and friends.

What Is The Most Interesting Fact About Me? I was born in Venezuela, SOUTH AMERICA. (My parents were Americans living and working abroad.) And I lived out of the United States, in several different countries, for 24 years of my life.
