Farmer's History

      In an effort to increase access to historical materials the Billerica Public Library has begun converting a variety of resources into an electronic format. The first of these to be completed is An Historical Memoir of Billerica by John Farmer. Farmer's history has the distinction of being historically significant while still being short enough to convert in a reasonable timeframe.

      A note on the conversion: It was decided that simply scanning the pages into a computer would not improve a patron's ability to read the small text, particularly the footnotes. Because of its brevity it was easily retyped into an MS Word document and then converted to a pdf format. No attempt was made to edit the original text and every attempt was made to replicate the document word for word. The most noticeable example being the footnotes where spellings often switched an 's' with an 'f', making Boston, Bofton and so on.
