"Books in Bloom"
Kay Johnson's Display
Kay Johnson, a member of the Billerica Garden Club, has made a beautiful floral display for the library. Kay calls this her floral interpretation of "Miss Rumphius" and this is part of the Garden Club's second annual "Books in Bloom" program at the library.
Kay chose the flowers based on the colors of the lupines in the "Miss Rumphius" book that we all read as part of our One Book One Billerica event. These flowers can also be grown in New England gardens.
Lupines are a native wild flower that grows all over New England. There are also some cultivated varieties that can be grown from seed or purchased at a nursery.
Although the One Book One Billerica program has finished, don't forget to check out our Miss Rumphius blog
The Billerica Garden Club will be having its second annual display at the library the last week of April (the week before our upcoming Spring Fling on May 2). Be sure to come and check out the beautiful book-themed displays!
