Important Tax Form Information

It's tax time again and tax forms have started arriving at the library. Not all forms are available yet but most of the popular ones are. The IRS has informed us that it may be as late as the middle of February before we have all the forms and instructions. The forms and instructions that are currently available can be found on the 2nd floor of the library in front of the Information Desk.

One Book, One Billerica

Once again, The Billerica Public Library and their Family Friends Group are preparing to launch our townwide reading campaign entitled "One Book, One Billerica, Pass It On!" This will be our 8th annual campaign and we are look-ing forward to another successful program.

"One Book, One Billerica" was created to encourage a love of reading in residents, regardless of education, back-ground, or economic status, through a shared reading experience. This program reminds our busy citizens that reading can be a fun experience and gives everyone an excuse to slow down for a few weeks and enjoy a good book with fam-ily and friends. Children who see adults in the community reading for pleasure are encouraged to read themselves.

About the Book: The book we have selected this year is The Fairy-Tale Detectives of The Sisters Grimm series, by Michael Buckley. In this first book of the series we are introduced to sisters Sabrina and Daphne Grimm who are sent to live with their grandmother after the mysterious disappearance of their parents. Granny Relda reveals that the girls are ancestors of the Brothers Grimm and it’s now their responsibility to become fairy-tale detectives. Their first case is to stop a giant from destroying their new hometown. Sisters Grimm is a page turner that incorporates humor, tension, suspense and a wild cast of characters. It is what happens after "Happily Ever After".

Ways You Can Participate:

  • Pick up a free copy of The Fairy-Tale Detectives of The Sisters Grimm at the library or various other places in town beginning the first of the new year.
  • Encourage your relatives, friends and co-workers to read also.
  • Pass on the book after reading it or just leaving it someplace in the com-munity where another resident can discover it.
  • Log on to our Facebook page and let us know what you thought of the story.

January is Food for Fines month

It's that time of year again. The library will be offering forgiveness of fines in exchange for food to be donated to the Billerica Food Pantry. Bring back everything that you may have overdue from the library along with non-perishable, nutritious food and your fine will be eliminated.

Special Rules:

  • Food must not be past its expiration date
  • The value of donated food must approximate the value of the fine being forgiven.
  • Lost items are not covered by the "Food for Fines" program and will still have to be paid for.

Important Information About Your Account

As part of the new Evergreen system, password requirements are being changed for all patrons. Previously, your password was four digits long, now all patrons will be required to change to a seven digit password.

When you log into your account, you will be prompted to changed your password to the new format, which will include both letters and numbers. After you change your password, be sure to remember what your new password is. (If you forget your password, you'll have to contact the library for help to change to a new one.)

If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to call the library.
